electa grand chapter

Who is electa?

Our Grand Chapter is named after Electa, commonly known as “Elect,” and is a central figure in the Order of the Eastern Star. According to the history of the Order of the Eastern Star, Electa was one of five heroines who exemplified the virtues of fidelity, constancy, and loyalty.

She is often associated with the color green, which represents hope and renewal, and is symbolized by a sprig of acacia. Electa is revered for her dedication to the organization and its ideals, and her legacy continues to inspire members of the Eastern Star to this day. We believe the women of Georgia who are members of our Electa Grand Chapter exemplify the characteristics of Electa.

Our Grand Matron, Sister Trellis Johnson stands on the shoulders of the many women who came before her in the role of Grand Matron. She is a native of Georgia and is a member of Love, Peace and Unity OES Chapter #187, where she has served in multiple roles, up to and including Worthy Matron.

Johnson holds a prominent and influential position within the Order of the Eastern Star and oversees more than 500+ sisters in Georgia. Her primary duty is to oversee and guide the workings of the Order, which includes presiding over meetings, appointing committees, and ensuring that the Grand Chapter operates in accordance with its By Laws and the IFAMM Constitution. Additionally, she is responsible for promoting and advancing the goals and principles of the Order, such as promoting friendship, charity, and truth. The Grand Matron must lead by example and inspire sisters within the Order to live up to the high standards set by the Order of the Eastern Star.

Our sisterhood

Georgia Sisters and are members of the Order of the Eastern Star and part of the brightest shining Stars in the entire Order. While the OES is a Masonic-affiliated organization that welcomes both men and women, there is a strong emphasis on sisterhood, as sisters bond over their shared interest in charity, morality, and social justice.

Members of the OES support one another through life’s challenges, offering comfort and guidance when needed. The Order also provides opportunities for women to develop leadership skills and take on important roles within the organization. Overall, the sisterhood within the Order of the Eastern Star is a supportive and empowering community that fosters personal growth and connection among its members. Georgia has a long line of sisters who have always been there to build up and support one another.
